Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 25 August 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to the purchase and use of products and services supplied by Precision Aviation Theory (PAT).
By purchasing, accessing or using a Precision Aviation Theory product or service, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

2. Products and Services
PAT products and services may include:
- online aviation theory courses;
- examination preparation packages;
- practice examinations and question banks;
- face-to-face aviation theory courses;
- textbooks, training aids and other educational resources; and
- other aviation education products or services offered by PAT from time to time.
The inclusions, price and applicable access period for a product will be displayed on the relevant product or course page.
3. Payment and Access
Payment must be successfully completed before access to a purchased digital product is granted.
Digital access will ordinarily be provided automatically following successful payment. Customers experiencing difficulty accessing a purchased product should contact PAT using the contact details above.
The purchase of access grants the registered student a personal, limited, non-transferable right to use the relevant PAT product for their own education and examination preparation.
Ownership of PAT intellectual property is not transferred to the student.
4. Access Periods
Unless otherwise expressly stated on the relevant product page, access to an individual subject course or examination package is provided for a maximum period of six (6) months from the date of purchase, or until the student passes the relevant examination, whichever occurs first.
For a CPL bundle containing multiple CPL subjects, access is provided for a maximum period of twelve (12) months from the date of purchase.
When a student passes an examination included within a CPL bundle, access to that individual subject may be removed while access to the remaining subjects continues until those subjects are passed or the twelve-month access period expires.
Access periods are maximum access periods. Purchase of a product does not guarantee that a student will complete their studies or pass the relevant examination within that period.
5. Notification of Examination Passes
Students who pass an examination relevant to a PAT product must notify PAT by email.
The notification must include:
- the student’s PAT username; and
- the student’s relevant Knowledge Deficiency Report (KDR) or other satisfactory evidence of the examination result.
PAT may remove access to the relevant subject once satisfactory evidence of the examination pass has been received.
6. No Guarantee of Examination Success
PAT provides educational and examination-preparation services designed to assist students in developing their aviation knowledge and preparing for relevant examinations.
Purchase, access to, completion of, or performance in any PAT course, practice examination, examination package or other product does not guarantee that a student will pass a CASA examination, flight test, assessment or any other examination.
Results obtained in PAT practice examinations are for educational and preparation purposes only. They are not official CASA examination results, qualifications, licences, endorsements or certifications and do not constitute a determination that a student is ready to undertake an official examination or assessment.
Examination performance depends on numerous factors, including the student’s knowledge, preparation, understanding, performance on the day and the requirements applied by the relevant examining authority.
7. Refunds and Cancellations
Except where required by the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law, PAT does not provide refunds for online courses, examination packages, face-to-face courses or other educational products or services merely because a customer:
- changes their mind;
- changes their personal circumstances or plans;
- decides not to use or complete the purchased product;
- does not undertake the relevant examination;
- fails an examination; or
- no longer requires the purchased product or service.
A customer may submit a request for a refund in writing to PAT. Requests outside a customer’s statutory rights will be assessed by PAT on a case-by-case basis, and PAT may approve or decline such a request at its discretion.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where a customer is entitled to a refund, replacement, re-supply or other remedy under applicable law, PAT will provide the remedy required by that law.
8. Face-to-Face Courses
Bookings for face-to-face courses are subject to the dates, locations, attendance requirements and other conditions specified when the course is offered.
Failure by a student to attend a booked course does not automatically entitle the student to a refund.
If PAT cancels or materially reschedules a face-to-face course, affected students will be advised of the options available to them, which may include transfer to another course, rescheduling, credit or refund as appropriate to the circumstances and applicable law.
PAT is not responsible for a student’s travel, accommodation or other personal expenses except to the extent that liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Student Accounts and Login Credentials
PAT accounts are personal to the registered student.
Students must not:
- share their username or password with another person;
- permit another person to access PAT products using their account;
- sell, transfer, lend or otherwise provide their account to another person; or
- attempt to circumvent PAT access controls.
Students are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of their login credentials.
If a student knows or suspects that another person has obtained access to their account or login credentials, they should notify PAT promptly.
PAT may suspend an account where there are reasonable grounds to investigate suspected unauthorised access, account sharing, fraud or misuse.
10. Copyright and Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, all PAT materials are owned by or licensed to Precision Aviation Theory and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
This includes, without limitation:
- examination and practice questions;
- question banks;
- answer options;
- explanations and worked answers;
- course content;
- lesson material;
- textbooks and written resources;
- diagrams, illustrations and graphics;
- videos and presentations;
- worksheets and study resources;
- software and platform content; and
- the selection, organisation and compilation of PAT educational material.
Purchase of a PAT product provides a licence for the registered student to use that material personally for their own study and examination preparation only.
Except where permitted by law or expressly authorised by PAT in writing, students must not copy, reproduce, publish, distribute, transmit, sell, resell, sublicense or otherwise provide PAT material to another person.
11. Prohibited Sharing and Extraction of PAT Material
Students must not share purchased PAT material with another person, whether for payment or free of charge.
Students must not systematically capture, record, reproduce or extract PAT content for the purpose of creating or assisting in the creation of another question bank, course, training resource, database or commercial product.
Without PAT’s written permission, students must not:
- systematically photograph or screenshot examination questions or course material;
- screen-record PAT products for distribution;
- scrape or automatically extract PAT website or Exam Centre content;
- compile PAT questions into another document or database;
- upload PAT material to another website, application, artificial intelligence service, file-sharing service or learning platform;
- sell or redistribute PAT material;
- provide PAT material to another training organisation, instructor, student or commercial competitor; or
- assist another person to circumvent PAT’s technical or access restrictions.
Reasonable personal notes made by a student for their own private study are permitted.
12. Suspension or Termination of Access
PAT may suspend or terminate access where PAT reasonably believes that a user has:
- shared an account or login credentials;
- redistributed or sold PAT material;
- infringed PAT’s intellectual property rights;
- attempted to systematically extract PAT content;
- obtained access fraudulently;
- interfered with the operation or security of the platform; or
- materially breached these Terms & Conditions.
PAT may investigate suspected misuse before determining whether access should be permanently terminated.
Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies available under applicable law.
13. Aviation Information and Regulatory Changes
Aviation legislation, regulations, standards, procedures, publications, examination requirements and operational information may change.
PAT takes reasonable steps to maintain and update its educational material; however, students remain responsible for ensuring that they are using current authoritative information where required.
Where there is any inconsistency between PAT educational material and an applicable law, regulation, standard, official publication or direction of a relevant aviation authority, the applicable authoritative source takes precedence.
14. Platform Availability and Technical Issues
PAT aims to provide reliable access to its online services but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Access may occasionally be interrupted because of maintenance, updates, internet or hosting failures, third-party service failures, cybersecurity incidents or circumstances beyond PAT’s reasonable control.
Where a significant PAT-controlled technical failure materially prevents a student from accessing a purchased digital product, PAT may take reasonable steps such as restoring access or extending the applicable access period.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PAT excludes liability for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from the purchase or use of PAT products or services, including loss arising from reliance upon educational material, examination performance, loss of opportunity or interruption of access.
PAT does not accept liability merely because a student fails an examination, assessment or flight test after using PAT products or services.
Where PAT’s liability cannot lawfully be excluded but may lawfully be limited, PAT’s liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
16. Australian Consumer Law
PAT products and services may come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict a customer’s rights where doing so would be unlawful.
If there is any inconsistency between these Terms and a mandatory right or remedy provided by applicable consumer law, the mandatory consumer law will prevail to the extent of the inconsistency.
17. Changes to These Terms
PAT may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time, including to reflect changes to its products, services, technology or legal and regulatory requirements.
The current version will be published on the PAT website together with its most recent update date.
Any rights that have already accrued under applicable law are not affected merely because these Terms are subsequently updated.
18. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in Western Australia, Australia.
Subject to any rights a customer may have under applicable law regarding jurisdiction, disputes relating to these Terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts and tribunals of Western Australia.
